This is a child care facility with a heart. I have been sending my children to Best Steps Child Care for over 3yrs now and feel very blessed to have found a place where they can learn structure, how to develop social skills as well as healthy friendships and an understanding of how to be respectful. Mrs Dennis is very good at creating the proper bounderies for children while giving them choices on how to do act properly as well behaved children. My 3yr. old is very advanced in all areas of scholastics and emotional development and I know its because his involvment in Mrs. Dennis' childcare. She gets the children very involved in the learning process and uses practical application for all that she teaches. She is very hands on in both the day-to-day care as well as the teaching of the children. Her facility is always very clean and she follows safety and health procedures. The menu is always very healthy and the children eat very well. Great value for the price. |

My son was behind on learning due to being slightly autistic. He went from being behind every child his age to above the children his age. He is going to kindergarten this fall and is being considered to being put in 1st grade rather than kindergarten because he learned not only preschool learning requirement but kindergarten requirements. We do work constantly with him at home with his learning but Ms. Dennis worked miracle with helping my son not only catch up but succeed. The speech therapist and professionals couldn't do what Ms. Dennis did and they commended us and her for his progress. This daycare is the best one we've been too. Not only is the food my son gets is very healthy but the daycare is extremely clean and safe. If we ever had problem with anything Ms. Dennis gave us her full attention, but we would work together to fix the problem. |

Best of the best. Has the children's best interest at heart and provides her whole home to these children. Ms. Dennis requires her employees to put in 100% to these children and if they cannot met that standards they are out of there. She wants only the best for our kids... |

Ms. Dennis, is a caring provider. Her first priority is the children. They are first above all else. Although you can't always please a parent from time to time, she always makes sure the children in care are well cared for. She expects the same of her staff. If her staff cannot provide quality care according to her standards then they don't need to be there. Ms. Dennis is a wonderful provider, teacher, and mentor. Ms. Dennis has an outstanding reputation in the community. Pat A. |

My son has asthma and food allergies as well as seasonal allergies. Ms. Dennis has gone above and beyond to care for my son and his special needs. Her and her staff have always given my son the care and attention he has needed and deserved. My son also has a speech problem and we have found that the attention he was given helping him improve his speech and social skills was far more valuable than when he was given "professional" attention. He has grown leaps and bounds since he has been at Ms. Dennis' daycare. If there was ever an issue, Ms. Dennis gives my husband and I her undivided attention and professionally handled any concern we have had. Because of her fantastic care we are putting our second child in her daycare as well and have recommended many friends who have since added their children to the daycare and share the same love we have for Ms. Dennis and her staff. I trust Ms. Dennis with my children completely!! |

Facilities are average--I've seen better and worse--but they definitely make the most of what they have. My son is 2 1/2 now and has been learning soooo much by spending time at this childcare facility that I would not move him anywhere else. The staff in place when he started there was terrific. Unfortunately, a few of the employees have left, and the new staff seems young and, while eager to learn, not as experienced as I would like. Someone else posted that their child with special needs was not being taken care of, and I can see how that could happen here--or at any daycare facility with numerous children. These places are not geared towards giving that much individual attention to one child. If your child has special needs, you as a parent need to step up and don't expect others to--no matter how much you pay them. All in all, I would give this facility a B-. Although as I said earlier, if I had to rate it on how much my child has benefitited by being there...A+. |

We found Ms. Dennis to be resistant to provide daily reports for our infant. Despite clear instructions posted on her refridgerator by our doctor, Ms. Dennis fed our son restricted food with high allergy risks. When questioned she told my mother that I was aware of it, and later confessed to me that she did not read the list (I was never aware of it). When I questioned her regarding an extended vacation closure following the two day holiday closure, she told me she was going on vacation and hung up on me as I shared my concerns. I found her to be arrogant and of the belief that she cannot be bothered with parents as she knows what she is doing. I was in awe of her center at first glance, but very uncomfortable with the attitude and care after being involved. She was caught in lies on several occasions and not someone that I felt I could trust. It was a negative experience for our family. |

I have had the wonderful opportunity to Visit Ms. Dennis child care and see her and her assistants in action with the children. Ms. Dennis takes great pride in running a quality child care. She is nafcc nationally accredited. She thrives to give the children the best care and essentials that they need while in care during the day. It is rare to find someone so dedicated. Any parent who signs up with Ms. Dennis "Best Steps" child care is truly getting the best of the best in Lakewood. All children no matter what age are happy. |
